(Moberly Monitor Index) JEFFERSON CITY – Sen. Chuck Graham today announced that a Moberly company has been approved for more than $167,000 in state tax credits.

The Missouri Department of Economic Development approved the application of Custom Composites Co., which is located at 923 South Morley in Moberly. The company is eligible to receive up to $167,418 in Enhanced Enterprise Zone tax credits over a five-year period. The tax credits were approved after Custom Composites agreed to create at least 50 new jobs with good wages and benefits and invest at least $1 million in the business.

“Custom Composites is a great member of Moberly’s business community, and it speaks well of them that they are willing to invest so much in their business during these uncertain financial times,” said Sen. Graham (D-Columbia). “This is a good example of a state program that fulfills its goal of providing an incentive to existing businesses that decide to increase their investment in the community. I applaud Custom Composites and DED on their accomplishment.”

Graham campaign manager said this is a publicity stunt and Schaefer is trying to divert attention from issues that will be discussed at the Animal Legislation forum.

The response states, “This forum gives our campaign an opportunity to shed light on Kurt Schaefer’s record of defending corporate polluters, undermining local control of health and safety regulations, and his mishandling of the taum sauk reservoir agreement.”
